Eric Van Stryland and Mansoor Sheik-Bahae receive OSA 2012 R.W. Wood Prize

Eric Van Stryland and Mansoor Sheik-Bahae are the recipients of the OSA 2012 R. W. Wood Prize. Eric and Mansoor, a CREOL alumnus, are being recognized for "invention, implementation and development of "Z-scan: A simple and effective method to measure cubic and higher order optical nonlinearities." This prestigious award recognizes "an outstanding discovery, scientific or technical achievement, or invention in the field of optics." The prize consists of a silver medal, certificate, and $3,000 honorarium to be presented at the OSA's Annual Meeting (FIO 2012) this October.

Other recipients of the R. W. Wood prize from CREOL are Demetri Christodoulides in 2011 and George Stegeman in 2003.
